Set-Up Technician Position Summary
Setup Technicians are responsible for the set-up and tear downs of injection molds in molding equipment, set-up of required auxiliary equipment, complete first piece inspection of production run, ensure equipment is running at prescribed cycle per work instructions, and assist, where necessary, press operators.
Shifts Available:
- 9th shift: Thursday - Saturday and everyother Sunday from 6:00 pm - 6:30 am
Responsibilities
- Locate, transport, install and store injection molds in accordance with established guidelines
- Prepare auxiliary and second support equipment as required at the press
- Monitor presses and alarms and troubleshoot issues
- Follows proper setup checks and floor operation procedures
- Trouble shoot the manufacturing process to diagnose and resolve anticipated or actual manufacturing problems that may affect product quality
- Maintain part quality by completing audits and documenting defective parts
- Clean molds
- Understand the operating characteristics and capabilities of all manufacturing machinery, equipment, and controls
- Develop and document set-up sheets as required for new tooling, major tooling changes, process changes, and special tests
- Keep the Engineering Department and the Master Scheduler informed about the technical status of new jobs and projects
- Verify documents and logs are accurate and completed in a timely manner
- Reads and complies with work instructions, set up sheets, and checklists
- Enters production information into the ERP system on a timely basis
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience
- Ability to perform set-up for new molds and highly complex molds as directed
- Knowledge of plastic resins, mold setup and functions of an injection molding press
- Ability to create and route reports and communications
- Ability to present information to individuals or small groups
- Knowledge of basic Math
- Ability to operate a forklift and overhead cranes
- Ability to promote and maintain a safe work environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, comprehend, follow and document work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training documents
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Dexterity and hand and eye coordination
- Attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks
- Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
