Tool & Die Maker Position Summary

The role of Tool and Die Maker I is to support the building and maintaining of fixtures, gages, and multiple forms of tooling using validated effective practices.

2nd Shift: Monday - Friday, 2:30 pm to 11:00pm

Responsibilities

Tool & Die Maker I Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain and build reliable production ready tooling on time
  • Document and build activities in required databases
  • Surface grind to required tolerances
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues and determines best solutions
  • Work closely with others to ensure best practices are used during the build and qualification of all tooling
  • Monitor and assist in the refinement of all toolroom processes
  • Identify fixturing, gaging, and tooling needs for toolroom and production needs
  • Adhere to all safety policies; includes wearing personal protective equipment when required
  • Develop CAM programs from CAD generated models
  • Set up and operate CNC and Manual Toolroom Equipment to produce high quality precise tooling components and other piece parts
  • Setup and operate all toolroom measurement equipment
  • Perform maintenance on toolroom equipment
  • Ensure revision levels of paperwork and tooling components are current
  • Support and comply with the company Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
  • Read, understand, and follow work instructions and standard work
  • Partner with other business segments: sales/marketing, customer service, engineering, quality, and finance
  • Understand customer needs and the core business markets we serve
  • Ensure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properly
  • Participate in required company meetings
  • Maintain an organized work area (5S)
  • Participate in the Operational Excellence Program
  • Complete all other work duties as assigned
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment

Qualifications

Tool & Die Maker I Position Requirements:

  • Technical degree or equivalent machine tool experience
  • 1 year of experience machining or stamping
  • Know the theory of cutting and forming in the stamping process
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Good ability to conceptualize complex assemblies
  • Good ability to identify different materials and their relationship to design (form, fit, and function)
  • Strong math skills, including trigonometry
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Dexterity, hand, and eye coordination
  • Ability to use a microscope
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
  • Basic GD&T experience
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask

Toolroom Machinist Desirable Criteria & Qualifications

  • Proficient in SolidWorks
  • Medical Device manufacturing
  • Progressive Tooling Experience
  • Basic skills and knowledge of Lean Principles and toolroom process workflow
